Advice ?

I really like this guy .... like A LOT ! I’m 1 yr older and going to high school in a couple of months so I’m going to leave the school we go too. He was in a almost 1yr relationship but broke up with his gf because of me .. it’s really hard for me to start a conversation with him in person ! I have no idea if I should try “ talking “ to him or just remain as friends knowing we both like each other ! Any advice ?
