how many weeks do I have to be to find out if I am dilated my doctor haven't told me anything about cervix checking

My doctor doesn't check at all unless I opt to have my membranes swept, which I could do as early as 38 weeks. You can walk around dilated for weeks without being close to labor, so my doctors' office doesn't see any benefit in knowing and prefers to avoid unnecessary cervical exams.

Every doctor is different. Both of my doctors don’t check very early. I would decline if they did. I requested to only be checked at my 40 week appointment if I got to that point unless there was some sort of emergency or need to do it earlier. Ask your doctor when they start doing that.

My doctor started at 36 weeks and checks every week up to delivery

My first child I was never checked until I was in labour, it was against my doctors policy because of risk of infection. My second child I asked to be checked when he did my gbs test at 36 weeks. I had an emergency c section with my first, so I wanted to know my progression. GE really speaki in my area they don't check until you ask or are in labour. It was awkward but I just asked outright.

My Dr. didn’t ask about it until week 36.  There’s really no need to do it unless you or the Dr. are just really interested. 
I’ve declined the last 2 appointments and probably will decline this Wednesday too.  Week 39 I’ll be all for it so I can get my membranes swept too!

Due to Preterm labor scare i was checked at 33 weeks for the first time and i was 2cm dilated. Then wasn’t checked again until 36 weeks and now I’m checked every week until delivery.

My doctor begins at 36 weeks unless you’ve been having signs of labor. I told her I was having some cramping and lightening crotch and she asked if I would mind her checking my cervix. I said sure cause I was curious to know if it meant anything. She just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t go into preterm labor. I was 33 weeks at that appointment and my cervix was really soft and was starting to open up. 2 weeks later at 35 weeks I was really really soft still and am 1cm dilated. I’m actually always excited to see if I’m making any progress 🤗 can’t wait for my next appointment!
