I used it along with opks. When I saw ferning pattern I tested with opk.

I have used for 3 months along with opk and it is accurate.  There is a bit of a learning curve with how much saliva gives best results, reading time,  and figuring out your own body pattern.

I tried to years ago but I couldn't tell if there was ever a difference.

If you look at your saliva under a microscope around ovulation it is supposed to have a fermi get like pattern. They make cheap special little microscopes for this. I tried it but it's difficult to tell the pattern and I believe inaccurate. Stick with OPKs and BBT.
