Is he still into me?

So theres this guy we started casually talking a bit and small interactions since april to june and then we hooked up at my party in july and ever since then its sort of been on and off and then i just stopped replying because it wasnt working, i wasnt sure what i wanted and he was going through a lot of things in his family. And this year when he sees me at school he says hi and even tries to hug me a few times and i didnt wanna be rude so i always hug him back in front of other ppl and whenever he sees me he says hi and one time i was with one of my male friends and he was quite far and he just like yelled HI at us which i was a bit like wtf is he upto, like we don’t talk at all atm and i wouldn’t even consider us as friends tbh and he still views all my stories on sc, i just want to know what this boy’s intentions are?
