My cousin is having a graduation dinner and invited me. I don’t really like my cousin but I feel obligated to go because my aunt has done some really nice things for me lately. Also the party is an hour away and I sorta have other plans that same time that I’d rather attend. Would it be rude to say ‘I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it but please give me your address so I can send a card?’

Personally i don’t think it’s rude. You always invite a ton of people to your graduation party and if they don’t come they send a card. That’s normal to me 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nope it’s not rude. I’m not going to my sister in laws graduation or party and she lives less than 30 minutes away. I’m sure she invited me out of obligation because she’s married to my brother who I’m very close with, but I have other plans and we don’t like each other sooo 🤷🏽‍♀️

You're not obligated to go anywhere if you don't want to. Just because your aunts been willingly doing things for you still doesn't mean you have to go. I think what you wrote would be perfect as long as you actually send a card and congratulate your cousin 🙂
