belly button healing?

so i’ve recently turned 18 and want my belly pierced, anybody know the healing process? how long after i get it should i stay out of the pool, and how long till i can change the piercings out?

Generally it takes 6mo to a year to fully heal.. I waited til it was around 5-6mo to change mine for the first time, but that's mainly because the healing process was going really well. Some piercers say you can change it around the 3-4mo mark but I think it depends on how well it's adapting to your body.. as for water, I'd definitely wait until it's closer to being more healed rather than having the fresh piercing getting irritated by the chlorine or salt water.
