Advice?

Okay so my guy best friend recently asked me out, we go to the same school, but we have no classes together so we’ve never really talked Face-to-face. Nobody really knows he asked me out yet, and we’re going out next weekend. I don’t know what to do cause I’m really awkward and he will be my first bf. Also everyone who does know tells me I can do sooo much better cause he isn’t the best looking and everyone is so mean to me abt it. Someone please help
