HEAVY TOPIC (rape) *TRIGGER WARNING*
Long I know, but I REALLY need help!!
My baby sister, who’s only 14 has been recently raped as of three months ago. She went to a 15 year old boys house by telling our mom she was going to a girl friends, his parents were out of town, he asked if she wanted something to drink, it was alcohol mixed with juice, she got unknowingly drunk, and woke up in his bed with no clothes on at 5am not remembering how she got there. Our mom thought she was being quiet and checked on her, she wasn’t there and after trying her phone and calling me and all our family members, she had no success and went hunting around with police. She got a call from my sister crying not knowing what happened or where she was. They finally found her, and after everything was dealt with, they took her phone, her clothes, gave her drug and alcohol tests, asked what she was wearing, what all she said, etc. They didn’t do any of that for him. They didn’t test him, they didn’t take his phone, they didn’t ask what he said, or what he was wearing, etc.
Yesterday, after two months, they closed her case after it had been bounced from about seven different detectives who didn’t take a single one of her calls during the whole thing. He will receive no penalty despite her rape kit coming back positive, as well as her drug and alcohol test, and him having two prior rape/sexual assault accusations (at 15?? Really??). My sister has always been an amazing kid. She’s done the right things, she’s been kind, independent, honest, etc. She’s never been one to be emotional or cry, but that’s all she’s done every night.
Now that the case is closed and she has to see him everyday at school knowing he got off, she’s gotten better/worse. She totally stopped caring, she wasn’t phased when we told her the news, and now after missing therapy, she heartbreakingly attempted to take her own life at 14 by swallowing a bottle of pills. She’s okay, she’s recovering, but am I wrong for wanting to fuck up the whole police station for mishandling a case?? Did they even mishandle the case, or are they all like this?? Please help!!
