My husband and I just got our offered accepted on a new house!!! It’s a fixer upper and will be months until we can move in, however I’m worried about someone breaking in.

It’s in a decent area and it’s better than where we used to live, but still not the best.

My husband has a dog that he keeps at his parents neighbors as our last house didn’t allow dogs (we rented), and were thinking about taking her with us. We are also thinking about possibly putting in a security system but they’re so dang expensive. The house already has rod iron security doors. What do you think protects your house effectively?
