Crying Baby
Trying to learn to breastfeed but anytime she's near my breast, she screams and cries. People tell me to do skin-to-skin, she just cries. She'll cry with the nipple in her mouth. It is nonstop. But if I pick her up and stop trying to feed her, she's fine. I've tried every position to hold her, sitting up and laying down. She'll suck sometimes, but she almost never wants to latch. Just cry. What do I do?? I've tried putting some milk in her mouth. I've had people say "She'll cry, she just has to get used to it" but how does she get used to it if she doesn't do it?? I'm so confused right now. I'll take a break and get her calm, but as soon as I put her back into any position, she starts crying again.
I've been to an LLL meeting. I had a lactation consultant come in our room after she was born and she turned out to be pretty rude, just telling me how to hold her and how to get the nipple in her mouth, about a 10-minute visit and left. The visit was included in our stay but I cannot afford to attend another lactation appointment. And we're not eligible for government assistance.
