What is a diva cup?

I just recently heard of these and have no idea what they are. Can anyone explain? I think the idea sounds good because there's not as much waste from using tampons and pads all the time since you can reuse them, but are they really better? And how new are these, because I'm surprised I just now heard about them

It's a menstral cup which is used in the same manner as a tampon in which you have to insert it, it basically just holds your flow and when you use the bathroom you just take it out and empty it down the loo, just give it a wipe with toilet paper if your out and about but best to give it a rinse if you're at home (slightly easier to insert when slightly damp).
​I have one called a mooncup, paid £21 for it about 3 years ago and I've used it every time and just use sterilising tablets and an old lunchbox box at the end to make sure it's hygienic. Swear by mine now, could never go back to pads (could never get on with tampons, I always 'leaked').

​They are something I would recommend to anyone, once you get over the initial 'wow all that came from me' as you can clearly see how much you've passed it's a great money saver and good for the environment! There's many brands out there so you're sure to find one if you're thinking about trying.
