Am I cleaning her bottles correctly?

Question

I use plastic bottle. And I get the sink water as hot as it’ll go. It gets really hot, I can’t have my hands under the water for more than a second thats how hot it gets. I use foaming bottle soap by babyganics. Get the bottle wet, Pump the soap in the bottle, shake it around and run it under the hot water. My SIL said i NEED a bottle sterilizer. How do you guys do it?

Sterilizes are good for peace of mind but totally unnecessary. Waste of money IMO. I would get a bottle brush though. Make sure the inner sides of the bottle are completely clean. I always washed my in the dishwasher because I didn’t have time to stand at the sink.

I’m not sure what brand of bottles you had but my sister had Medela ones and she got the sanitizing bags. You just add the bottles, nipples and caps, 2 oz of water and microwave them for a few minutes. Gave her peace of mind without spending a ton of time sanitizing.

I would use a bottle brush to clean the inside and nipple better.

I’ve sterilized once when they got an icky film from something I washed with them in the dishwasher.

I would use a bottle brush to get any lingering milk though.  I returned my bottle sterilizer.  I boiled the bottles and parts in a large pot the first three months.

Hot water and soap are just fine. No need to overthink it. And sterilizing them isn’t necessary either.

Never had the sterilizer. I’m sure it’s great but I used good ol soap, hot water and a bottle brush. I would get a new bottle brush about every month or 2.

when I first got the bottles I sterilize them.

You can boil the bottles in a pot on the sink or stick them in the dishwasher on the hot and dry mode.
