Do i have the right to be upset ?

My husband works 14 hours days, with a week on and a week off. I'm pregnant with our second, due in a month, and we have an 18 month old boy. I'm exhausted with the house work, I cook three square meals a day and make his lunches. Do I have the right to complain, when he's the one working all day? should he be helping me? he makes me feel guilty for wanting help with our son. He has a few days off and I'm on bedrest, but I'm at home cleaning and taking care of our son who is a major handful, and my husband is out with his friend. This feels wrong to me.

Bedredt is supposed to mean bedrest not cleaning your house.

You’re both working all day. You absolutely have the right to ask for some help around the house when he’s home. On top of having a toddler you’re also about to have another baby which is exhausting enough in itself.

Of course he should help with your son. He’s a father, isn’t he? A father’s job does not end when he gets out of work.

You have every right to feel the way you feel. Just because he’s the provider doesn’t mean he gets to stop being a father! I deal with the same thing but my husband and I have an understanding and me staying home with our children is what we decided as a couple was best for our family so we both have our “jobs” but before all of that we are their parents & both of us need to be involved in that.

- I’m confused because you said a week on, a week off, but then you said “a few” days off. If he only has a few days off and has to go back to work - yes he should be permitted to spend some time with his friends IMO because he is working hard.
- THAT SAID, you also need help. I’m guessing he’s a firefighter and therefore not totally broke. He could afford to hire somebody from homeaglow.com or another housekeeping site to come assist around the house while you rest. Likewise for meal service, meal delivery isn’t cheap, but it’s not horribly expensive especially if you find a local cantina service. It’s definitely worth the price of your healthy pregnancy.

your husband sounds like a jerk. my husband works 2 jobs and 14 hr days... and STILL helps around the house and with my 2 year old son. 
youre not out of line to speak up and ask for help hun...bed rest means BED REST.

your on bed rest!!! take care of your son and you. leave the rest he'll soon pull his big boy pants on and do what needs done. also tell his mom!

I work 5 days a week and the other 2 days I go to school for two hours with about an hour commute time. 
After each work and school day I come home to relieve my husband of baby duty. It’s a special time for me and even though I’m exhausted from working, I know I can’t just go to work and come home and do nothing. 
He’s my son too. 
My husband cleans as much as he can but most of the time he naps with the baby. He goes to school too so even though he doesn’t work (SAHD), we both have no days off. 
The work isn’t always 50/50. Sometimes it’s 80/20 or even 100/0, but it balances itself out. 
Give each other a break and sit down and work out exactly how you both will parent so there are solid expectations. When you expect without having vocalized your needs, everyone loses.
