Dax Wyatt's Birth Story (LONG)

Cherry
I was due by ultrasound 6/24/2015. I'll start from the beginning (my memory). I was at work that day, went to lunch, all was normal. I came back from lunch and was standing around and felt a small gush of liquid. I went to the bathroom to check and my panties were wet and I was dripping a little bit of cloudy fluid into the toilet. I did a pH test on it and it was negative. Well my assistant manager told me I could count my drawer and go home since we were so overstaffed. This was around 230ish, my other half who works for the hospital down the road told me he was getting off of work at 3 that day since they were also overstaffed (yay). We decided to come into L&D to get the liquid checked just in case. It was negative also :) the nurse checked me and said I was 4cm 80% effaced. I went home and went to bed. I woke up the next morning to what I know now was my bloody show :) I woke up my other half and told him to go ahead and call on today just in case. He was ok with that lol we went on about our day, I had bloody mucous all day everytime I went to the bathroom. I wanted to go to Walmart to get some things we needed food wise for the house so we went and walked the store getting various things. When we got home we did the deed to see if that would get something started (his words lol) and then took a nap around 3. I woke up around 5pm to start cooking dinner. At 5:23 I felt a cramp that was “different” I looked at the clock everytime I felt one, 5:23, 5:28, 5:32 whaaatttttt? 5:37... Decided to get the awesome app out I'd been waiting to use to time contractions. Dinner got done around 6pm. They were still coming every 5 minutes but the bloody show I had turned into just kinda orange blood and I got kinda nervous so I decided we could go ahead and come in and get checked again. Stayed in evaluation for about 2 hours, contractions were still 5 minutes apart and she checked me and said I was still 4cm so I opted to go ahead and go home but I told her I'd be back :) we got home around 9:15-9:30 and quickly did my contractions turn from 5 minutes apart to 1-1/2-3 minutes apart and boy did they get intense! I went to the bathroom and wiped and it was red blood this time and I called the nurse that was at L&D who had seen me earlier and told her what was going on, while on the phone with her I had a contraction I couldn't speak through and she listened to me and told me it was up to me if I wanted to come back in or not. At 10:35 I said it was time to go back in as my contractions were actually making me make noises and try to concentrate on breathing (lol) we got back to the birth center around 10:50 and my contractions were way intense. The early labor and delivery nurse knew I was coming back so she had everything ready and labeled. She checked me and I was at a 6-7! They got my stuff on and they came with the wheelchair and brought me to my room. My contractions started coming on top of each other to where I was really making noises, moaning, breathing sporadically but was OK between them and joking around with the nurse and answering questions etc. Sometimes a contraction would come and I could breath a controlled deep breath but the next one would make up for the lack of intensity and I would lose my concentration and kinda freak out. I felt better squeezing and rubbing my fiances arm or grabbing his shirt and pants for some reason. I kept thinking to myself I'm not going to die and I can do anything for a minute at a time. I kept waiting for the excruciating death pain where you give up and give in and ask for pain meds. I asked the nurse to check me and I was at 7-8cm Woo-hoo I thought almost there. She left to go do something and I had a really intense contraction and my water broke! Im not sure how I muttered out the words to my fiance to call her and tell her my water broke but I did. She came back and changed my pad I was on real quick. I told her I felt some rectal pressure and she asked if it went away in between contractions but I couldn't really tell so I said hold on for another contraction and I told her to check me again. She checked me and I was 9 1/2 cm with just a little cervical lip on the top. I tried to get kinda upright to get his head to put pressure on it to move it and a contraction hit that was to intense so I went back down to my back/left side. They called my doctor by this point to let him know I was at a 9 1/2 he was in his office which it's like 20 steps away, he said ok I guess he was on his way. The next contraction that hit was sudden and I involuntarily and intensely started pushing. I screamed something along the lines of oh my god I'm pushing and I don't know why! The nurse had one glove on and made the call to the front desk and said she needed someone in there now! Another nurse came in and tried to help her put on her other glove but apparently she only put 3 fingers in the right holes so she had 1 and a half hands lol the next contraction hit and his head came out, they told me to try and take a breath I found out later his cord was around his neck once. 1 breath and next instantaneous contraction and he was out. I didn't have to push, my body did on its own, my doctor walked in just as the nurse picked him up off the bed and was like what happened lol. No pain meds what so ever. It was intense but Manageable I kept thinking my pain scale was at a 7- 8 but my 7-8 is probably everyone else's 10 pain scale. I'm so proud of myself for doing it natural! I questioned my ability to 2 times during the whole thing but I did it! He weighed 8 lbs even and was 20 1/2 inches long and he was born 6/26/2015 @ 12:46am! He's such a cutie and looks just like his big brother! His sisters and brother came and were so happy to finally meet him. We have to stay 24 hrs which sucks but it's 11:40pm now so only a few more hours to go and tomorrow 6/27 is big Brothers 3rd birthday :)
