Anyone else annoyed by the names Memaw and Peepaw?

I absolutely HATE hearing people call grandparents those names, like it gets under my skin so much. Makes me think of some yeeyee yeehaw redneck country stuff. 😖

We are the furthest from “country hillbilly” you can get and my kids call their grandfather pawpaw. I don’t get how it affects your life at all? Personally I’d rather hear maw maw than “Glam ma” or “nanny”.

My son calls his grandparents this and it was all on his own. No one told him to call them that. Makes it easy because my parents are Grandma and Gramps so we have them all. He also had a great grandma “Mammam”.

My Grandma on my dads side is meemaw and she is alabama hillbilly living in Florida lmao I never like the name but that's what we were all told to call her

I hate those names and Mamaw!  My husband's mom is known as this so it still drives me nuts. I like Nana and grandma, Grammy, gramsy etc.

My mom is Maw-maw to my kids. 
My mom is 40, and she felt that nana, grandma, nanny, was all ‘too old’ for her when I had my first when she was 37. My father is also younger, and he goes by Pappy to the kids. 
My grandma is Nana, and my kids call her Nana as well. 
We are from southern Virginia, some may call us hicks or hillbillies, but I really don’t care lol. Not sure why what my kids call their grandparents offends 🤷🏻‍♀️

My grandparents made us call them grandmother and grandfather. The names fit because they really had no interest in us. I never had a bond. I refuse to have my kids call my parents that for that reason. Its important to me that the name is a loving warm name. So meemaw doesn't bother me cuz I associate that name to a nice warm grandparent.

My mother in law wants to me called mawmaw (not sure on the spelling ) and it annoys me but only bcz it’s too close to mama for me and she’s the least motherly person I know
