Doctor is confusing me!

So today I went to my doctors appointment I had made to confirm if I was pregnant or not. My doctor takes a pee test it came back negative so he says he wants to do a blood test. So long story short I get my blood drawn and wait on the result he calls me and says he thinks it might be positive. He said my numbers came back as a 5 and it should be under 1. Has anyone ever had this happened to them and was actually pregnant?
