Breast Pump?

Question

Hi ladies,
Due in just under 4 weeks and trying to decide if I should get a breast pump. And then if it should be electric or manual???
My only reasoning for considering one is because I’ve heard it can help with your supply and also so hubby gets a chance to feed Bub and bond. But as it’s my first baby and never having breastfed before I’m unsure if I even will be successful with feeding and if buying a pump will be beneficial or not. 
So I guess I’m trying to decide if a pump is worth the money and whether I should go for electric or manual?? 
Any help or info greatly appreciated xx
(Should also add I am in Australia and don’t have health insurance so will be needing to buy one 🙂)

Electric double pump for sure. If you can, a hospital grade one.. You should go through AEROFLOW or EDGEPARK online to see if you qualify for a free breast pump. Unfortunately, they don't deal with my insurance which I have CA medical.. 
but I still got an electric pump locally from this pharmacy, but its a rental, my insurance pays the rental fee.. it's a medela symphony hospital grade and they told me i can return it WHENEVER im done with it. 6 months a year or two whenever my insurance cuts off which it never will because I'm unemployed. I plan on pumping for maybe a year..
Some good electric pumps are Medela PISA, Spectra s1 or s2 from what I've heard plus from the research I've done. 
You should get a manual pump too though to be honest, because when your on the go, or not home say a road trip, or somewhere you can get engorged or want to pump to maintain supply and just store it in a cooler bag.

If you go to Medela’s US website, there’s a quiz you can take that’ll help match you to a pump that fits your needs. If you only plan to pump occasionally you’ll save quite a bit of money getting a manual pump. I only had a double electric with my first, but got a manual pump this time for quick pumps after he feeds to empty myself or pumping one side when he feeds on the other. If you want to make pumping a regular part of your routine, then spending the money on an electric will probably prove beneficial.

I would definitely get one to have on hand. Just don’t open it yet. If baby comes and you don’t use it, you can always return it, but its better than deciding you need one after the fact and having to scramble out to buy one. Definitely electric, manual pumps are miserable if you ask me, takes forever and not as effective.

Awwww NUTS!! That's what I get, sorry I didn't see the no insurance part😩 That stinks though they don't offer any assistance.  I tried looking but didn't see any and they are pretty costly over there.  You can try Amazon.  I found these two the cheapest. I do have the avent pump, it takes a bit to get used to. I got a Spectra 2 hospital grade one this yr.  
Never heard of the other one, but they sell the bottles in the US.  Also try Amazon UK or possibly another country that will ship a breast pump to Australia.

This pink one is the one I just got. So maybe you can get it at a decent price 😊

It should be covered by your insurance for free! I went through Lucina Care.  Quick and easy. I picked the pump, entered my info and they contacted my insurance for me.  Call your insurance and see what your coverage is. I get a new one every 3yrs but this is my last kid

you can always wait to get it.... I already got my pump but don't plan on using it until a month before I go back to work. I hate pumping and do it out of necessity only because I want to breastfeed for at least the first year and unfortunately cant take off work that long. set the money aside and then see how your breastfeeding journey goes. you may want one you may not
