broken waters?

is it normal to be sent back home from hospital after waters have broken ?
At 3:26am my hind waters went, and then I went to the hospital and on the way there mild contractions started but why I was in the hospital I lost my plug and my fore waters went aswell. My contractions have been increasing since but I was still sent home until tomorrow morning.

Mine went on a Tuesday at 36+4 and they sent me home for three days so that I could try and start off contractions on my own. They did offer me an induction for the Wednesday but tried to dissuade me by telling me I’d need a stay in the NICU. So I went home with antibiotics and I had to check my temperature every four hours to make sure I didn’t have an infection. I had some mild contractions Tuesday night then horrendous contractions for 20 hours on weds through to Thursday then Thursday afternoon through to Friday. I did call up but they didn’t want to see me as my contractions were five and a half minutes apart. I’m a FTM so thought I had no pain threshold. I couldn’t  lay down in bed or sit down they were so painful. On he Friday I went in and they checked me before putting the pessary in and found I was six cm dilated but my labour kept stalling. They put my on picotin and six hours later my baby was here. She was back to back which meant my contractions were worse than most too. If I could go back I would definitely have had the induction straight away as she was stuck in my pelvis for two days and has a misshapen head and bruising at birth :( she had problems from this and we were submitted into the NICU a few days after birth anyway with suspected sepsis and jaundice. She spent three days on a bililamp and had 16 heel pricks, a feeding tube in her nose and two canulas in each hand. I’m an extreme case but definitely wish I’d known what might happen so I could do something differently. I actually had PTSD (not PND) after birth too because of all this and it took me a good two months to bond with her and realise she wasn’t going anywhere!

I thought you had 24/48 hours after waters had gone before any intervention was needed. 
They’ve probably sent you home to see if you naturally start your contractions.
