Midwife or obgyn?

Question

Whats the difference between the two and which one would you prefer? I am 21 weeks pregnant no complications .

Being a second time mommy...my first ended with a csection. I could have tried to push more, doc said I could try but baby was being stressed. I looked at her and said "can we do the c section please" bam...Drugs went in, baby came out. I prefer an OBGYN. I think everyones choices and opinions will be so different, it's really all a personal choice.

I prefer a midwofe bevause they are more holistic and don't try to push interventions

I chose obgyn, just because this is my first pregnancy so I didnt know how my body would do with a baby inside. But I probably will choose obgyn for my next pregnancies.  No shame if you pick obgyn or midwife. As long as the baby is born healthy & the momma is okay!

I love my midwife! I don't know anyone who hasn't been happy with their midwife! they're so supportive and non judgmental, it's a much more personal experience and theyre in call 24hr. When your in labor bthey come to your home and check you, let you know when to go to the hospital and do the postnatal care at home too!
I'm in Canada (not sure where you are) so laws may be different but here midwives can now write prescriptions and sign you off on medical leave from work and as long as your having a hospital birth you have any needed access to Dr and nuses as well as an epidural if you chose!
having a midwife doesn't mean a Dr isn't going bto come do a C-section (or anything else) if needed.

I prefer midwives. I have had horrible experiences with OBs. The midwives I see are amazing and are very good at what they do. I’m not really into holistic medicine and the ones I see aren’t either, so I feel most comfortable with them.

I have a midwife who works closely with an ONGYN. I like having a midwife a lot and it eases my mind knowing that an OB is there in case of complications. Midwives do all of their own births, with a doctor you typically get whoever is on call. My first birth was awesome, did it all naturally and then I had a retained placenta and it was super easy to call the doctor in to get it out.

FTM and I love my OB. I trust her completely and I know she wouldn't do anything that wasn't medically necessary and will honor my birth plan to the best of her abilities.

I’ve been seeing both at my DR office just because my OBGYN is so popular she’s always busy. It’s sometimes easier to see the midwife. I really hope my DR is on call when I go into labor or if I have to have a c-section.
