Experience with spermicide/sponges?

I’m getting my nexplanon implant removed. I’ve had a truly horrible experience with hormones and I’m quitting them for good. Boyfriend and I want to pair condoms with spermicide or sponges but I see that many cause yeast infections or allergic reactions. Does anyone have recommendations? The today sponge seems to have terrible reviews...

I tried spermicide 💁🏻 I was afraid that it can be messy and would cause some irritation but it was perfectly fine! We used Nonoxynol  suppositories. But I suggest you first make sure you're not allergic to spermicide (I heard it's quite common)
