Ready to start buying for baby. Where to start???

Im 20 weeks now and want to start slowly buying things for my baby boy and his nursery.  But I'm not really sure where to start!  Should I wait until after the baby shower??  Any suggestions?  FTM 💕

I’m 22 weeks and have been stressing about waiting until after the baby shower to buy (I’m a planner😂)! My mom suggested that as long as we have a crib and the major furniture we will probably get most everything else gifted. 
So we have purchased a crib, a dresser, and received a glider for free. We have also been stocking up on value packs of wipes. I picked the brand I wanted to use and I check for sales weekly on amazon, target, etc. So far we’ve gotten 4 boxes of 800 count wipes for almost half price just by checking and buying when they are on sale (they have a minimum three year shelf life!).
We just felt like wipes and the more practical daily items are not what people want to buy us, they want to buy the fun cute stuff! 
I also check weekly for awesome sales on diapers and even some of our larger registry items like the stroller and car seat that we would be less likely to receive unless someone wants to be very generous! If I find an amazing sale I won’t pass it up! 😊

I bought everything but a few outfits off of Craigslist. I got a crib, dresser, pack n play, bouncer, bassinet, urgo baby carrier, infant life jackets and lots of clothes for $250. done and done.

I would go ahead and start buying diapers. Maybe not newborn size since you’ll get plenty of those at the baby shower, but also wipes and a couple of outfits that you love 😊 you could also look into getting some of the bigger stuff like a car seat and nursery furniture! Just depending on how wealthy of people you are surrounded by I guess 😂 we went ahead and bought all of our nursery furniture a couple weeks ago.

We bought our nursery furniture & I buy cute little outfits when I see them. I've also bought diapers and wipes. I stay away from the items I've registered for.
