How often should I test?

I just got my iud taken out because my hubby and I want another baby but ive taken opks. how often should I test? Everyday with every cycle? Do I really need to test while AF is here? Should I only test around the week I'm suppose to be ovulating? SO CONFUSED! ty !!!

For at least 3 months I tested twice a day every day from the day after my period ends until i get a positive ovulation test. 
Turns out I was ovulating until 9 days before my period starts

I’d start early like CD 6/7.  I have short cycles and peak early - like day 8/9.    After a few months if you find you don’t peak until much later then push back the start a few days.
