So... seven days ago, I started taking Melodetta (had my son 9 months ago). I have always felt skeptical about the effects of hormonal BC and don’t really trust it. I really want to be able to enjoy my sex life and not have to deal with vaginal dryness and I even read it can actually cause your clitoris to shrink by 15%...!?! Also, it causes a host of many other unpleasant side effects like recurrent yeast infections (acts much like an antibiotic damaging gut flora), painful sex (from the dryness), decreased libido, and I read it can take a long time to build your normal hormones back up after discontinuing use. My question is 1) I haven’t had any vaginal dryness yet (for me this is huge because I used to have issues with it and my body had finally found a happy balance and also I had a ton of yeast infections and itchiness for a while and I no longer do) so if I haven’t started having this symptom will I begin to develop it the longer I’m on the pill?? Also, I will probably try for another baby in about a year and a half and I don’t want my fertility affected permanently or my sex life to really suck 2) what are other options that still make me feel like a responsible adult but that do not adversely affect the way that my body was intended to function? All of this BC stuff is scaring me and I’m really concerned about the true safety of the pill. I mean, I am even noticing it affecting my mood. I get angry a lot more quickly and I’m usually so easy going.
