Flooring recommendations

I want to put in new flooring on the 1st floor of my house. I want something that is water proof, can hold up well with dogs and kids and heavy wear, and looks like wood. I was looking into vinyl but haven’t had much luck. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Partially depends on your price point. Vinyl is the cheapest, it looks ok but is a very thin product and doesn’t look nice in my opinion- just looks okWe did hand scraped wood laminate, with a high rating for water. Looks great! We love itAnother idea (the best but most expensive) is porcelain wood look tile. My parents did that to their bottom floor and it’s gorgeous, CANNOT Damage it, but cost about twice what I paid per square foot. My living area shown above is like 18 by 20 and was $2400 Installed by Lowe’s My parents did about double the square foot i did with porcelain tile and was a little over $8k

Pergo is a good option. My sister in law has Laminate flooring that looks just like wood. It’s rolled out and glued on and looks really good actually

The tile that looks like wood is my personal favorite with laminate being a close second

So we own flooring stores... yes you can get tile that looks like wood (I’m not a huge fan of tile myself, everything that hits it shatters!), but you can also get waterproof LVP (luxury vinyl plank) that looks like wood and comes in different colors. Google it :) Or you could also get pre-finished wood. There are some super awesome floors out there. Every time I walk into our store (we have a 10,000 sq ft showroom) I want to replace all of our floors 😂 And wouldn’t you know, our house is the LAST place my husband wants to put new floors. 😭

Cork flooring is usually cost effective and great with dogs. Bamboo flooring is great with dogs but can be more expensive. Engineered laminate looks like hardwood but is much more cost effective and durable. Actual hardwood scratches easy. Vinyl is cheaper and you can cover more for less, investing a little into something towards the higher end of vinyl might spark your interest more too.
