How long should I wait to take him out?

Question

With my baby being due around the holidays, I'm concerned when is a good time to take him out in public? I've read 1-2 months but I do not want to run the risk of him getting sick. How long did some of you moms wait to take your baby out into the world?

My babies are due nov 3 but since it's twins they will come about the first week of October. I plan to take them with me a bit when I take my daughter trick or treating if they let me! I think if they are born healthy and you keep hands off of them from ransoms you are good

I have a huge family! I'm talking over 20 people on my moms side and then smaller on my dad's plus my boyfriends family. I'm due really close to Thanksgiving. My plan is to not go to the actual family dinners as I don't want everyone and there brother holding my newborn. But rather waiting until everyone is gone and allowing grandparents, great grandparents, etc to hold the baby. I just feel more comfortable with the "important" people celebrating our first holiday with us. I don't want to skip put completely as my baby is blessed to have two great great grandmas and I want him or her to spend every holiday possible with them.

Baby due a week before thanksgiving and I don't plan on bringing her around large groups until Christmas. We're not going to thanksgiving because we have three to go to and I'll be a week postpartum and will want. To rest and just bond with baby. If they want to see her, they can visit

I had my daughter out immediately. Once doctors sent us home we were out almost every day. I just made sure other people were aware that I didn't want them handling her yet.

You really don't need to wait that long, unless he's born with a weakened immune system. Just don't pass him around and let tons of people hold him.

I had my 2 year old the Tuesday we went home on the Wednesday and straight to the place where my oh works we just got on with life no need to stay in at all

When I had my first son we went out to lunch on the way home from the hospital at a sit down restaurant. I just kept him covered in his car seat and didn't let people touch or see him. Personally I think it's fine to take baby out as long as you make it clear that people can't have their hands all over him or her for the first few weeks.

I'm due Thanksgiving Day but will have a c section maybe on the 20th, if we lived near family I'd be attending the family festivities. With my 1st we were out of the house the day we came home from the hospital.  We will be having immediately family who plan to travel to us for the birth so we'll have people over for the holidays, I just won't be cooking or cleaning lol!

She will probably see outside twice in 2015. Thanksgiving and Christmas by each of our parents house. There won't be too many people at our parents' houses so there won't be more than the usual people holding her I'm due 11/6 but will be having a C section before then.
