“You’re A Great Mom”

Tayste

So my son is 10 Months Old and has strep throat, I found out yesterday at the doctor. When I took him in, the receptionist asked what was wrong. I explained that he had a fever and that was all, he wasn’t fussy or stuffy or coughing. Just a fever. She asked how long and I told her we were on day two of a fever that would only break until Tylenol wore off, and it would come back up. She looks at me and says “you’re such a great mom for bringing him in so soon” I said thank you and went on and sat down. It the occurred to me... why am I a great mom for bringing my sick baby to the doctor? Isn’t that what all moms do? Until the woman behind me turns and says “you know, teething causes fevers too. It was uncalled for to bring him out in this weather and around actual sick people for no reason”. First of all, it started raining while we were checking in, up until then it was sunny and 75 degrees (I live in Ohio and the weather changes in the blink of an eye). I didn’t even respond before she said “if it were my son, I’d tell him to suck it up and wait it out”. I was amazed at how horribly she was reacting. She was older, 60s probably, maybe early 70s. I said “he’s my son, I would know better than anyone if he needs to see a doctor, and I think he does. I’d rather be on the safe side” and she deadass said “people like you are what’s wrong with the world” and then she got called back by the nurse so that was the end. I couldn’t believe it 🤦🏻‍♀️
