First Birthday Party got cancelled!

This week, one week before my daughter’s birthday, my uncle died in his sleep at 60. No one saw it coming. Needless to say, our party was cancelled due to family mourning events.

I am incredibly sad to lose my uncle, but also a little sad that my baby didn’t have the party we planned. It was supposed to be small, but my husband’s parents were coming (and his dad so rarely visits). They were incredibly gracious and wonderful about postponing their trip, but part of me still feels guilty about that, too.

I hope to make the cake I was planning later and have the celebration I wanted at some point, but I’m still sad about it now. It’s unlikely to be the same as it was going to be.
