Mama Kitty
The other night my husband and I were walking up to our apartment and he saw a cat under a nearby car. Of course I called to her because I can’t resist and she started meowing and coming toward me. She was a little thing, one year old or less, and I noticed right away that she was pregnant. I sat down on our front step and she came up and could not get enough love and scratches from me. I got her some food and she scarfed it down. She was filthy and clearly lived outside. I knew I had to help her and her babies find homes and care. She let me pick her up and take her to our back yard, but that spooked her and she hopped the fence. I put out a box with towels for her and hoped she’d be ok. The next morning I put out a bowl of food next to the box just in case she came back. That night I went out and noticed the food was gone and so I called out for her. I heard her meowing on the other side of the fence! I kept calling her and she finally hopped back over and ran up to me and let me love and pet on her again.

She was so sweet I knew she needed a family. I have two cats so I couldn’t keep her or bring her inside in case she had fleas or anything contagious. But I knew I had to find her someone fast because she needed a safe place to have her babies.

I spent Saturday calling rescues and going to different PetSmart’s asking if anyone could take her. Finally someone said they knew of a foster who told them they had an open nursery for a mama and babies. I gave her my number and left hoping for the best.
Yesterday night I got a text from the foster saying she could take her! We dropped her off with her this morning and she went into labor at 5pm and gave birth to 4 babies! I’m so relieved that we got her somewhere safe just in time to have her precious babies in a safe warm house with people who care about her and will get her proper care. I just wanted to share this with you guys. I think me and this kitty were meant to cross paths. It’s amazing how these little creatures can have such a big impact on our lives and hearts. I’m so thankful for the fosters who dedicate their time, energy, and money to helping strays find loving homes. They are angels in earth ❤️
