Am i wrong for wanting to get married after only one year?

My boyfriend and I have been together for one year. We have a great relationship and i want to take it to the next level. So Recently i told him, we either get marry or we break up. He didn't wan't to break up but that is what he ended up choosing. His excuse was that he is not sure neither ready to get marry.

Wanting to get married after being together one year isn't that bad but giving your boyfriend that ultimatum after only a year is kinda ridiculous.

You shouldn't have given him that ultimatum. I was in the same boat. I loved my fiance so much after one year of being together and I wanted to get married and he wasn't ready but he said at some point he did want to marry me but just wasn't ready to propose and that was acceptable to me. It was better than losing him altogether because I couldn't imagine my life without him. He proposed to me six months later. Maybe you need to try talking with him and tell him that you didn't mean to rush him. You're not wrong for wanting to get married but you shouldn't have given him an ultimatum. If he is your soul mate why would you want to risk losing him?

I hate to be blunt here but you screwed up. You don't pressure someone into marriage. I've been with my fiancé for 4 years. We've been engaged for almost 2 years. We are expecting our first child in  January. You should not be worried about a meaningless piece of paper. It would be different if you have been together for 5 years and not engaged. But a year. No. That's not right. What's your rush anyway?

One year is too soon to do that. I could understand after six or seven and having kids with someone, but you guys are still new. If he's the right one for you, just be happy with him. Don't you want to be with someone who loves you so much they WANT to marry you? You don't want to force that decision on him if he isn't ready.

So the answer to your question is, yes you are wrong for wanting to get married after only being together for one year. A year isn't enough time to know someone. Please make sure you know what you're doing before you make a decision like that.

Some people just know early on that they are with the person they want to spend the rest of their life with, but I believe it's too early to give someone an ultimatum. My husband asked me to marry him after only 13 months, but I would never have expected him to take such a huge step with me if he didn't feel ready to do so himself.
