Can he do that???

Question

So, I live in Utah and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this allowed? Yesterday my manager told my husband who also works at the same place I do, that instead of coming in at 5 today, he wanted me in at 6. I was supposed to do a 5-1:15 shift. Well, he swapped me and my coworker. So now he wants me here till 3. He didn’t ok it with me, he just did it. Is he allowed to do that without asking or really even notifying me?

I just looked everything up. They can indeed do it, but if its listed anywhere in an employee handguide that they have to tell you within a time frame I would look for it. Everyone's businesses are different.

he probably can, but the fact that he didn't notify you directly sounds fishy and should probably be addressed.  even if he told your husband it's still not the same as telling you personally as it could screw with his accountability. if he doesn't notify you directly he can't really hold you accountable for showing up at the new time or not...

Yes, he can change your schedule without consulting you. It may not be a very nice thing to do, but he's the manager, he doesn't need your approval. As an employee, you are expected to work the hours they give you unless you have explicitly stated beforehand that you are not available to work at a specific time.
