diabetes during pregnancy or is it gestational diabetes?

I had a to do the 3 hour glucose test.  They called and said my numbers were still hi and I need to test 4 times a day and go see an endocrine  and diabetes center for an appoinment. now I am just wondering could it be that I had diabetes all along or is it gestational diabetes.

I don’t think you’ll know for sure until your postpartum visit. My a1c’s were perfect during my pregnancy and postpartum. But I failed the 2 hr gtt at 6 weeks postpartum and she said I was prediabetic. At 4 weeks I went in to see my endocrinologist and she mentioned the pregnancy shouldn’t affect my blood sugar that early so if your first a1c was kind of high before or in early pregnancy...

If your numbers were normal pre-pregnancy then it's just gestational. In any case, they should have you come back after baby is born to check and make sure that's all it was and they will probably advise you to get checked more frequently since it does increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life.

likely just gestational...my numbers were normal prepregnancy. (i watched mine while TTC) but I am on my 3rd GD  pregnancy.

Unless you were prediabetic or fully diabetic before pregnancy then its just gestational.
