My boyfriend put his hands on me , and I hit back. Does that make me a bad person?i only did it out of anger because I got tired of getting treated that way.

This is a toxic and emotionally/physically abusive relationship on both parts.

Both of you are in the wrong. You said you ‘did it out of anger’ not to protect yourself, so it wasn’t self defense. 
If you’re tired of him hitting you (and obviously you have every right to be. Abuse is 100% never okay) then you need to leave, not hit back. 
Now you’ve stooped to his level, hitting out of emotion or to make a point. It’s now abusive on both sides. 
Why hit back out of anger instead of using that as motivation  to leave and put yourself in a healthy, safe environment?

Really? The problem here is HIM hitting you and you thinking YOU did say something wrong. SELF DEFENSE girl, just cus we’re women doesn’t mean we can’t hit back. What were u suppose to do? Let him beat y’all up? Praying you get some sense before it gets worse

It doesn’t make you a bad person because even though you said you did it out of anger, he hit you first and you were defending yourself. Most people who get hit have a fight or flight reaction. This is extremely unhealthy and toxic though. Regardless of whether or not we think you are a bad person, he is going to make you out to be the bad guy every time. This is what abusers do. They create chaos and then you’re the bad guy for reacting to it. You know how he is at this point, so do not expect something different to happen in the future. This is who he is and you’re not Gandhi or something, so staying calm in a situation where someone is hitting you is very difficult. Take control of your life and get out of the situation. Don’t let him have control over your emotions like that. Refuse to be like him.
