When were you referred to a midwife (Australia)

I’ve chosen a midwife group at the hospital as my primary care instead of an obstetrician. There will be a dr on call when I give birth but the midwives are so nice and will work around my schedule which is very helpful when I work full time. Plus the cost to me is literally nothing which is great. I’ll see a gp for referrals and a few antenatal care visits but that’s it. I think it depends on the hospital and what you choose

I signed up for the Community Midwifery Program for the second time. I saw my GP for my initial dating scan at 8 weeks, and will see my midwife at out at home appointment at 18 weeks.

I saw my gp during 1st trimester, then saw midwife just after 12 weeks. Just had my recent 20 week check up with midwife too.

Are you going to give birth at a public or private hospital? Do you have a regular obstetrician you see? My obstetrician has a midwife at his practice and I see her sometimes for appointments and can call up to ask her questions etc. That’s been my only experience with midwives so far.
