What to expect with D&C?

I’m waiting for a nurse to call me back to schedule my D&C.; I’m just hoping for some advice or knowledge on the experience from anyone who has gone through this. Wondering what to expect as far as pain or recovery or how much time off work I should expect. Thank you. ❤️

I had mine yesterday and had light anesthesia. The worst pain was the pain killers going through my IV. Only mild cramping immediate after in recovery. But i felt a crazy wave of emotion as soon as I woke up and the tears started and I barely realized it was happening. I was at the hospital for a total of 6 hours and the worst bleeding was the first time i used the restroom after the surgery. Today it’s much lighter and more manageable but I still have a pad. Only minor cramping and back pain, but still groggy and not completely alert. Got out of the house for a mani/pedi and back massage as a little step to take care of myself. Best of luck to you, I promise t won’t be terrible. I was relieved when it was all over.

I was put to sleep with mine my Dr is the sweetest man he felt so horrible I was going through my emotional pain and I was having a very painful miscarriage so he put me to sleep and it was over only took a couple of minutes.

I had a missed miscarriage on April 20. Waited a week to see if I could miscarry on my own. Had D&C; on April 27 which wasn’t bad, they used local numbing to the cervix and I had oral pain/anxiety meds, just had some mild cramping during procedure but was still emotional before, during, and after. I didn’t bleed or cramp much after the procedure and ended up not being able to pass the remaining blood/clots from the first D&C; so ended up requiring another one May 4 due to horrible cramping without bleeding. I had D&C..; I was very emotional. Losing my baby was hard. But it went pretty smooth as far as the procedure. I only spotted for a day or two and I was back at work 2 days after. Only had light cramping.
