should sex offenders be treated better than drug dealers?

So here's why I ask...where I live, sex offenders are "treated better". You could molest little kids for years, only sit 10 months, get out, find an apartment easily, and get a job right out of jail/prison. However my husband has a drug conviction because his friend set him up to sell his prescription pills (only 6), got 5 years probation, had to sit 10 months, can't get a job to save his life and I can't put him on applications or we will be denied. I mean I don't think either charge should be "treated well", but bein a mom, id rather a dealer or someone with a drug conviction live next door than someone who touches kids.
