friends w benefits....smart or dumb?

so my ex & i kinda decided we could become friends w benefits just bc we trust eachother & we still like love eachother. (our relationship just didnt work out) anyway we have strict rules on protection, if either of us catch feelings and stuff like that. is this a smart idea or really dumb?

You’re a couple who has removed the title but doesn’t want to actually let go and move on. Not a good idea - you can’t feel the way you’ve described and stay impartial
When you break up with someone that time apart is healthy and gives you time to move on and get over them - not having that break just prolongs the process and usually ends up with someone or both of you getting hurt all over again

In this instance it'd be an unwise idea. You don't do this kind of thing with someone you've already had an emotional connection with. The only time you do this kind of thing is if you want to get back with the person ultimately.

Take it from somebody who has done it. 
It’s not a smart idea. I was with my ex for over two years. He was my first everything and I just couldn’t let go. So we ended up being fwb and i would catch myself getting all the feelings I had... and would get so mad when he was talking to another girl. Let’s just say it ended badly.

I wouldn’t call it dumb I do see where your coming from but it’s a very dangerous idea to be friends with benefits with your ex if you still have feelings and even if you don’t its a risk to catch feelings. You might want to try and talk to him to make sure everything is out of the way to make sure y’all both don’t have feelings for each other anymore and y’all don’t see each other in that way. You could be at the risk of catching feelings again and getting heart broke ☹️
