Rainbow baby born at 34 weeks

Sarah

I had my son 10 days ago at 34 weeks 5 days. I just want to start this off by saying, trust your instincts! My doctor was convinced I was just a paranoid first time mom, but I knew something was wrong. I started nesting like crazy around 30 weeks and got mostly

everything together, moved my maternity pictures up from 35 weeks to 33 weeks, and packed my hospital bags at 34 weeks exactly. I had an intense feeling like he wasn't going to stay in until June 7th. That being said, I thought I would have him closer to 37 weeks, but oh well 🤷🏻 anyhoo, I was having contractions pretty close together that started around 11pm Sunday (April 29th) and I went to go get checked around 2 in the morning because it was really hurting in my back. They checked me and I was only 1 cm dilated, and they checked me 2 other times over the next few hours to make sure the contractions weren't starting labor. I was still at a 1 so they sent me home. The contractions kinda went away for most of Monday but came back even worse on Tuesday morning so I couldn't sleep. I got up and cleaned a little, got makeup on, made a hair appointment and made plans with my brothers for that afternoon. I texted my husband and my friends telling them my contractions were worse and my back pain was really hurting me, but when I called my OB she said it was just Braxton Hicks and I would know if I was in labor. I decided if they got any closer together that I would go in anyway, so I went to pee, made myself some eggo waffles and when I got up to put my plate in the sink, water started trickling all over my legs. After 10 minutes of internal panic, I called my brother and asked him what to do 😂 my best friend showed up and ran me to the hospital where they tried insisting that I probably just peed, but when they checked it was my fluid and I was 3cm dilated and 75% effaced. This was around 4:30. An ambulance got me around 6, I was sent to a hospital with a nicu and arrived around 7:30 and was at a 4 and 90% effaced. Got the epidural around 9, they gave me the steroid shot in the hip around 10 and around 10:45 they were going to start the pitocin but she decided to check me again and I was beyond a 10 😂 my contractions were pushing him out. My husband had stepped out to get food so I called him and him and his mom ran all the way back to my room from the lobby. They got in the room at 10:55, I started pushing at 11:00, and it only took two pushes for him to come out. Grayson Orion came out 6 pounds 1 ounce, 20 inches long and very healthy. He's been in the nicu for feeding and growing since then, but they want to discharge us this weekend because he's taking full bottles and is almost back to birthweight 😊 it was a pretty scary situation, but overall a 7 and a half hour labor and only two pushes isn't bad for a first delivery.
