Would you make your kids pay for their own phone bill?

When they hit 14-15 and are able to get a job

I think 14 is too young to be paying their own bill (personally I wouldn’t let my child get a phone until 14, or their Freshman year, anyway). I think 16-18 is fair. They’re old enough physically and mentally to balance that kind of responsibility. 
My parents always made me pay for my own phone and bill, since I got my first track phone at 13 lol but I appreciate it now because it’s a bill I’m use to and am never late on.

my oldest will be 14 this year... he got a phone for Christmas and he does extra work around the house or outside for his mins. I have an old school mindset if you want something you work for it.  when my children become adults I don't want them to be shocked that nothing is given to them for free. My 9year old also does extra chores for 💰 for things he wants like video games.. a tablet... whatever it might be they have to earn it.  it's a good life lesson.. that way we don't raise more spoiled entitled kids. just me though to each their own

Definitely. It likely wouldn’t be their entire bill, but they’re definitely going to contribute a reasonable amount along with any overages that take place like exceeding the data limit. 
As soon as I was making money regularly, I was contributing to bills and groceries.

Yeah thats too young to pay their own bill but I'd want them to pull their weight in the house with chores and school work so they have some sort of responsibility. Once they get a job then they can start paying their phone and I'll help as needed.

I got my first phone in Jr High so I was too young to really have a job (I had a paper route but barely made any money doing that). Once I was 15 I got my first "real" job and my mom and I worked out an agreement for what I would pay her for my phone, I didn't pay the full bill but I still had to contribute to it every month.

I have a 12 year old. Right now, I pay her phone bill, because her main focus should be school. Just recently she asked if she could have the iPhone X (she has the iPhone 7 Plus that was mine and I passed down to her) I felt as though this was a good chance to teach her responsibility. I told her no, I will not buy her a $1200 phone. If she wants it. she can get a "job" and buy it  She asked me what kind of job a 12 year old can have and I told her dog walking, mowing lawns, etc.. 
She asked me how come I can have a new phone and I told her because I have a job and can afford to pay for it. She didn't like that answer very much, but I will not raise her to think she's entitled to anything. Some kids her age don't even have a phone. She can be grateful for what she has, or not have it at all. 
So no, I don't think that asking a 14 or 15 year old to pay their phone bill is too much. It teaches them responsibility. Even if they're not paying the while thing, but giving something towards it, it's perfectly fine.

As soon as I got a job, my mom had me start contributing. She only had me pay a portion but I was paying for the insurance on the car I used and my phone. I will be doing the same with my kids. They'll still be able to keep the majority of their checks, but they're going to learn about responsibilities at the same time
