First time birth control

So...I am starting the pill and my doctor said to start it the first Sunday of my period, but the pharmacist said the dark pills are for when I’m on my period that I will start with the yellow pills...am I supposed to start them the Sunday after my period, or start on the yellow now while I am on my period?
