Should you tell a woman who has a pet happy Mother's Day?

So me and a couple of friends are in a group chat and I told my one friend we will call her kymee happy mothers day( she has a daughter as do I) and my friend we will call her Jacque said " hey why don't I get a happy Mother's Day?" And I said " um no offense but because you don't have a child.." and she said " I have a dog that my baby so I deserve a happy Mother's Day also🙄" In my opinion I don't think she does it's stupid to me to tell someone happy mothers day because they have a pet... what do you guys think?

Personally I agree with you. Pets are not the same as children. I've certainly spent a ton of money on my pet, I've trained her, worry about her and do a lot for her. But it's no where near the same as a child. There's no mothering, like sitting and talking to your sobbing child for hours trying to desperately help them. I have never had to help my pet navigate nasty kids in high school, help with homework or teach them right from wrong and work on the becoming a self sufficient and good person. All the things my mother has done for me and sacrificed for me is so far beyond what I have and will ever do for my pets (and I do a lot for my pets). Pets are very important and hold a special place in our hearts, but they're not a human child and do not have the needs of a human child.

I do. Fur babies are just as important to those who do not have children.

I needed a third option- I think for those who can’t have kids I would say happy Mother’s Day for the pet but not to all my friends who have pets as someone could think it’s weird

I don’t think pets make you a parent. Maybe if it’s someone that has fertility issues and can not or it’s extremely difficult. But having and loving a pet is much different than having a child whether that child come from your own body or be adopted. So it’s an absolutely not for me. I think people just want to be included in everything now days. I have a dog that’s almost 11 but he’s not my baby my kids are my babies.

This is one of my fur babies  we rescued her aswell as our older cat when I hit my 5th year of trying to conceive. I'll always think of her like a child ❤🐱

I’d just say happy Mother’s Day to keep the peace. Pets are important to people. I don’t get too hung up on whether people deserve it or not and it seems important to her.

Life doesn’t always work out how you think it is going too. I always thought I would have had kids by this point in my life, however I ended up with two dogs instead. I consider them my babies and do everything I can to make sure they have the best possible experience in this life. However I don’t expect anyone to tell me happy Mother’s Day. Kids are obviously different than dogs. I did have a few people at work last night say it to me though because they know how I feel about my dogs. 💕
