Baby’s born😁 Birth story

ty

Last wednesday May 2nd i started having contractions, they got more intense thursday. i called maternity ward thursdsy morning to see if they would keep me and they said to time them. I did for 24 hours and friday morning they were 5 minutes apart for almost 2 hours, i went in, they checked me and i was only at 1. very disappointed after being in pain for over 24 hours. i went for an ultrasound that same morning because i was 41 weeks that day. The ultrasound technician asked what was wrong and i told her i was having contractions and she’s like “oh well they’re gonna keep you right?” im like “no they’re sending me home i’m only at 1cm”. She gave the ultrasound and asked if she wanted to check me again and i said sure why not. I was at 3cm!! The hospital gave me a room, put me in the tub and had me walk for an hour, they checked me again and sadly i did not dilate enough. They sent me home, i was so frustrated, the contractions were getting worse but still bearable. I laboured at home for another 24 hours which was more comfortable and relaxing for me but i just wanted this baby out. Saturday morning i went back to the hospital because the contractions were closer together and stronger. They checked me and seen i was only at maybe a 2+cm. They had me walk for 2 hours, get in the tub and checked me again and thank god i was at 4cm!! i was proud of my body for doing its job. They gave me a room again, i got comfortable and just walked with my boyfriend and doula in the parking lot for about 2 hours, i went in the tub again because the contractions werent as bad in the hot water. They checked me again and i was at 5cm. i just continued doing what i was doing, my doula massaged me, helped me relax and i got on the birthing ball for a bit. at about 8pm saturday night the doctors checked me again and i was sadly only at 5.5cm, they said breaking my water would speed things up, so they did that. Of course, the contractions got stronger after they broke my water and longer and more frequent. I was exhausted, running off 3 hours of sleep in the last 3 days and in pain. After another 4 hours of labouring i gave in and got the epidural. I felt like i failed my birth plan of wanting to go all natural but my body was not progressing and i needed to relax and the pain was pretty much almost unbearable. My doula reminded me that i was a strong woman for labouring 3 days and she would’ve gotten the epidural a long time ago. At about 1:30am the doctors checked me i was at a 7. i told them about half hour that it felt like i needed to push so they checked me and i was at 10cm!! Theepidural seriously helped my body progress so much. I pushed for about an hour and after a long 9 months of pregnancy, 72+hours of labouring, 1 hour of pushing and a lifetime of love, my baby girl Kwanonwé:on Violet Claire was born on May 6/2018 41w2d

2:55am weighing 7lbs 3oz and 19 1/4 inches long. Everything was so worth it, i would do it all over again for another bundle of love (but not for a while😂💜). My perfect baby girl i’ve never been more proud of anything in my life. The following pictures are some my doula took while i was in labour.
