when did your doctor start checking your cervix

my doctor says he won't check me til 38 weeks. im 36w5d and my 38 week appointment I would actually be 38w5d when he checks me because he said it'll probably be two weeks from today rather then next week at 37w5d. does this sound okay for him to not check me unless I'm having any signs of labor?

Never. They're pointless unless you're in labour or bleeding.

My doctor doesn’t check unless you go to 41 weeks. Then they check to see if your cervix seems favorable for an induction or not.

I didn't get checked until I was in labor at the hospital. there's no need to do it before then unless you like fingers up your cooch

Totally normal, my doctor didn't check mine until 38 weeks either and like someone else mentioned they are basically pointless anyways unless you are bleeding or in active labor. One of my friends was dilated to a 2 at 36 weeks and stayed that way for 3 more weeks, she was so dissapointed because she thought she was gonna have her baby soon after the doctor told her that. I see a lot of people post on here they get checked at 36 but I don't see why it's definitely normal to wait until 38 weeks or later.

I was 36 weeks when they started checking dilation . I was 3cm lol

It just depends on the doctor. I’m going to ask mine to check me at 36 weeks this Friday because I’ve been having issues, but it’s not necessary if you haven’t been having problems.

sounds good to me. like you said, unless something comes up, it makes sense to check closer to your due date.

I had my lady bits checked out a lot the first trimester but I also had some other health issues (Hg and a subchorionic hemorrhage)  I haven’t been check since I hit 20 weeks. I get a vaginal exam next week after my 36 week ultrasound and then I’ve been told I won’t be check again until I’m 39 weeks unless I’m already dilated a bit next week. Then I’ll be checked every week.
