Does your Doctor listen to you?

Cruising through social media today and I came across an interesting and very eye opening article regarding black women and their experience during and after pregnancy with those who should have their best interest at hand. What’s been your experience? Here’s the article

*sigh* I live in Boston, Mass and I was already pissed about not being able to find a PCP of color.
Fast forward to just last week, got a BFP and found out I’m 6 weeks. I’m so annoyed I can’t find a WOC for my Obstetrician because I feel like White Women just don’t give me the warm and fuzzies.

currently in Windsor Ontario; my family and ob are Arabic w.e the term and omg family doctor has known me since my mom was pregnant w/me. I hate going to her she never listens was so relieved with university docs.
whilst pregnant with 1st my ob was alright. with second I have same condition as before hypermesis gravidrum so can't keep anything down not even water. she says my iron is low...why yes it would be its been 5 months since I had anything besides I.Vs. she then went to say I probably have sphyallis. really. obviously after a blood test she realizes I don't... and then goes to say it's because I'm not able to eat.

My doctors are an arab man and an asian lady (the guy is bulk billed always and the lady charges for adult appointments).They are so amazing, work well together ,listen to me,know everything thats going on.Ive made them my family doctors and they are great with hubby and my 15 month old.I once went to a doctor and he basically kicked me out because he "wasnt going to give me drugs of dependance e.g anti depressants or painkillers" so i might as well take my sob story to someone else... im pretty sure it was because i was black and looked like i was in bad shape (duh i was sick)

My black dr listened and paired me with the best white dr to deliver my son. He was the best hands down. She wasn’t able to deliver him herself. She did come and check on me the next two days. I think you have to search around for the right dr to fit you. I live in Atlanta so it’s really easy to find a blk dr but some of them aren’t the best listeners either.
