Modeling. Quick Job?

I’ve always been told that I could model. I’m in desperate for money. I’m 22 though. Would pursuing just waste my time? You don’t have to have professional portfolio right away just pictures that show your features. But would I make money? I’m kind of embarrassed to even try because my boyfriend might think I’m full of myself and stupid for trying.

You’re definitely not too old to model. I’m a 21 year old freelance model for about a year now and many of my friends are anywhere from 20-25. A good friend of mine is in an agency but even then you don’t get paid unless you go to casting calls and get the part. It’s a cut throat world sadly 😅 (just being honest from what I’ve heard and experienced!).
Portfolios are definitely key in sending them out to others so they can see the type of work you’ve done. I’m still trying to perfect mine but it’s worth it!

Here’s the thing with modeling. Photographers won’t pay a model who has no portfolio. The ones that do are really creepy and just looking for “sexy women”. Agency’s will take you in without a portfolio on a 1% chance. Meaning you have to be the right size, right face. You pretty much have to be above and beyond what they are looking for. Your best chance to get into modeling is to find photographers looking for TF (trade for) gigs to build a portfolio. Meaning you trade your time. So no one pays but both parties trade time for images. And a lot of the time the photographers if they are new won’t get the images to you.
