Is knocking on the wall rude?

We’ve been in this apartment for about 2 weeks. We are on the end of the top floor so we only have residents on the right ride and below us. I understand we are going to hear the neighbors sometimes, which is fine with me. But for the last week, for hours a day, I have been able to hear the neighbors to the side of us playing music. I can hear the thump of the beat and it’s beginning to drive me insane. It’s the same thing every day. It’s like a generic slow tempo Spanish song. Lol I’m not sure how to describe it but I’m tired of having to listen to it. It was to the point where my tv or dishwasher couldn’t drown it out. I emailed the apartment manager but she is out of town for the week. I don’t want to make such a fuss about it that I call someone or knock on their door so instead I knocked on the wall. I don’t think they noticed it the first couple of times as I wasn’t trying to be too loud about it. But then it got on my nerves so bad that I used my whole palm and banged about three times. Eventually in the next couple minutes it was turned down and I no longer was able to hear it over my tv. Do you think I was rude to do that? I feel bad honestly but pregnancy has made me such a grump and I couldn’t bear to listen to it another day this week 😂
