what are you thoughts on having dental work done?

I've gotten a lot of try to hold off a few months until the baby is born but I'm just unsure.

I think it depends on what the dental work is. Ask your OB what is safe& let the dentist know your pregnant & they won’t steer you in the wrong direction

No laughing gas- inhibits DNA synthesis. No versed- can cause cleft lip (early pregnancy) and  neurological problems (late pregnancy)

It depends on the dental work. If it's an infection or a tooth that needs to removed asap then you should get it taken care of but if it's something like wisdom teeth removal then I'd wait until after the baby is born. You can call your dentist and ask.

I'm a hygienist, dental work is fine in the second trimester :) If they need to
use local, they'll use lidocaine as long as they know you're pregnant.. and cleanings are 100% recommended sometimes more during pregnancy!

I had a few fillings done when I was in the 2nd trimester. Dentist told me if you need work done during pregnancy then the 2nd trimester is the best time to do it. It gets too hard to lie down on your back in the chair once you get bigger. It is beneficial to treat any issues like cavities and such during pregnancy because they can actually be really unhealthy to have during pregnancy. Plus its better to not be in pain with tooth issues! It should be totally safe to do in your 2nd trimester. I did it and my daughter is now 2 yrs old and really healthy!

if it can wait I'd wait, but if a tooth needs to be pulled and is causing a lot of pain I'd get it out.

Ive been going to the dentist. They're holding off on doing xrays and any unnecessary numbing, just cleaning so far.

I have a cracked tooth and a cavity ......I'm just scared of catching a infection once they extract the tooth.
