Low supply, feeling discouraged
I recently returned to work and am away from my son 3 days a week and pump, breastfeed the 4 days we are together. My milk supply has recently dropped tremendously, by about half. I spoke with a lactation specialist who didn’t really provide much insight. She told me to check with my pediatrician regarding how many ounces should my son be receiving per bottle and how often based upon his weight. He currently gets 6 ounces every 3-4 hours depending on his napping schedule. My pediatrician is out so a different one emailed me back, basically saying I’m underfeeding my son since he needs 28-36 ounces a day and there is no difference between formula and breastmilk?!I’m feeling so discouraged, especially since I’ve never pumped that much in a day! My son is 8 months old, sleeps through the night and I pump every three hours while at work. Any tips on getting my supply up? Thank you!
