Help?!

Question

Today my Dr said if I can't get this baby to come naturally in the next 3.5 weeks then I will be induced on the 11th. She checked me today and said I was not dilated and he is way up high and I'm not effaced. What should I do? I was induced with my first and i want to avoid that at all costs! TIA!

I have heard that midwives brew, lots of walking, jump squats, and sex might help with that. I haven't tried the midwives brew or jump squats yet so I don't know if it will work for you. I am 38 weeks this Sunday and right now my baby is not dropping either. I also do not want to be induced. I am praying that she will decide to come out over the next 2 weeks. I am planning to go to the zoo this weekend with my husband hoping that all the walking will make her drop faster. Good luck to you and to me!

Also, if you arent wanting to be induced, ask your dr what the alternatives are. Just because they only mention one option doesn't always mean there is only one option. Do your research as well. If the doctor says you need to be induced by that time for a specific reason, educate yourself as to why.

Baby won't come until it's ready. Baby literally is the one who decides. Baby will let off hormones that put you into labor.  No amount of spicy food or tea will make it happen. Now... a reason baby may not be ready could be position. Try some squatting, cat-cow yoga pose, and other hip opening stretches. Always do these with at least one other person with you and make sure you are both using good body mechanics. These stretches and exercises will send the softening hormone, relaxin, to the areas it needs to go to. Also sex! Oxytocin, a hormone released during sex, is released during labor as well and will assist your body in making any changes it needs to, in order to allow baby to be ready. Be sure you are very hydrated (drinking half your weight in water every day) and eat foods that help loosen your stool. Your body will do a "cleanout" before labor. Helping that along can't hurt.

3.5 weeks is plenty of time for your baby to come on its own still. I’ve done the evening primrose oil and raspberry leaf tea for the last month of all of my pregnancies and it seemed to help. My cervix has been soft and I’ve been plenty dilated early. Haven’t made it to my due date yet, this one will be my third so we’ll see how long I go.

Second and subsequent babies don’t usually drop until labor starts. There is plenty of time to go into labor on your own.
