Marriage counseling

My husband and I have been separated for about 3-4 days. We had been having problems with his drinking and family keeps butting in trying to “take him away” I guess we can say. We decided he would go to his parents for a few days and I would stay home with our two kids while we figure things out. We found a couple who are marriage counselors and made an appointment for Saturday afternoon. I’m so nervous about going to the marriage counselors and that we will both realize we are better off separated. I’ve been with him for 6 years, since I was 15. He’s an amazing husband and father but his drinking is out of control and he gets out of control when he drinks. Has anyone done marriage counseling and it helped you marriage?
