My poor baby had to have surgery 😔💔
About 8 months ago, we got this beautiful little chocolate lab pup, named gunner. He was so cute and I was so in love. I was about to have a baby so I was excited for them to grow up together. As he got older we noticed he didn’t get along with our 3 other dogs, 2 shih tzu and 1 Australian Shepard. They would randomly get in fights and start attacking each other (this happened with all the dogs). It was never bad enough , even though gunner drew blood on the other dogs, so we put off getting rid of him for awhile. Until early this morning.
It was about 1 in the morning and I was cleaning my room. I know weird ( I get random energy rushes at night and just start cleaning everything). As I was about to walk up the stairs with some trash, I heard the dogs start attacking each other. I ran so fast upstairs and saw one of the shih tzus, Braxton, limping so I turned on the light. Braxton then jumped on the bed when I saw his eye. It just looked weird. It was looking at me while the other was looking away. It was so far out of his socket. I started freaking out and called my boyfriend upstairs. My boyfriend saw and ran downstairs while dry heaving. I then run upstairs barging into my parents room (we rent rooms out from them) telling my dad that our dogs eye popped out. You should have seen his face. He was so confused. He runs downstairs and not knowing what to do he tries touching it and helping, which obviously didn’t work. So at 2 In the morning after calling around and finding a 24 hour pet hospital, we load the dog up and go. I couldn’t stand looking at Braxton so my brother had to hold him. We get to the place and I just gotta say my dog is a trooper. The whole time we were waiting he was just wagging his tail. So we find out he has to have surgery and lost vision completely. We got to pick him up early this morning and find that he had puncture wounds all over his body and had to get them stapler as well.
My poor little baby now doesn’t have one eye and is limping everywhere. We got rid of the lab. We took him to the pound to surrender him or whatever it’s called. They might have to put him down. It’s really saddening that this happened and that we let it get this far.
This is my trooper of a dog after we got home this morning. He hasn’t stopped wagging his tail. Oh how I love him. ❤️
Edit:*** I forgot to mention that my brother told us in depth what happened. I guess our lab picked him up and shook him. It’s crazy that all that happened in two seconds. It makes me wonder what would have happened if we weren’t there to stop it.
